Hippolyta - blonde or not?

I'm a bit confused about this one. Which hair color is the original?

I grew up with the black haired Hippolyta. But it's sometimes very confusing since she looks identical to Diana, depending on the artist. When she was WW for a time, I even mistook her for Diana without knowing. All through the 90s and 2000s we see that version (maybe in the 80s too if I'm not mistaken) . I always thought that was the generally established version... But the new 52 has her blonde. She's also blond in the Justice league cartoon and comics that adapted it, and shes also blond in the old Lynda Carter tv show, so is this version the original one?

In WW#1 from 1942, Hippolyta (then Hippolyte) was a brunette. They made her a blonde in the silver age. I think it was post-Crisis when she returned to being a brunette.
